Thank you for joining today's session. I'm Abinaya from Innova Market Insights. I am really, really excited to be part of the session with the Acre Biomarine. So today I'll be taking you through. How consumers in APAC are thinking about active body active mind and more importantly How this can be translating into opportunities for product development. So before we get into trends, let me quickly introduce Innova and how we look at the market. So we are a global insights company focused on food, beverage and health categories like supplements, clinical nutrition. So everything you will see today is very focused on this space. We have been tracking trends and innovation for over 30 years. And today we cover more than 90 countries globally. And one of the biggest strengths is the new product database. We capture around 90% of global innovation. So this gives us a very strong view of what actually is happening in the market and not just What consumers see. So we are working with around 200 million records. and also using AI. AI to help make sense all of this. So what I'll be sharing today is not just trends, but a compilation of market data, consumer insights. and the real market activity we see across APAC. Let me quickly walk you through what we will cover today. So we will start with how consumers in APAC think about aging well. Then we will move on to Physical health then mental well-being and finally how all of this connects to longevity. So really we are looking at a full journey. body and also mind together. Before we start, it is really important to understand the biggest shifts happening in health and wellness today, especially in the APAC market. So first, consumers are more empowered than ever. So they are tracking sleep, fitness. nutrition, everything. And secondly, Populations are aging across APAC. which is increasingly focused on not only the short term but also a long term. Health. Overall, consumers are not just thinking about staying healthy. for today, but also about how they want to feel. in the future. So what we see clearly in the APAC market is consumers are much more aware of their health. So in a recent survey conducted by Innova, we asked consumers how concerned they are about their physical as well as the mental health. So what we found is around 6 in 10 consumers say they're very concerned about both, not just one. both physical as well as mental health. We also asked how they are tracking their health. and we observed that many are using tools like fitness tracking dive tracking and sleep monitoring through apps and gadgets. So this shows that consumers are not just aware. But they are actively managing their health on a day-to-day basis So let's start with understanding how consumers divide. The aging will. So when we look at healthy aging, we observe that there are both demographic as well as consumer drivers behind this trend. So as highlighted here from an article from SCAP, The APAC region is undergoing rapid population aging. So majorly driven by longer life expectancy. and also declining fertility rates. So structurally, this is not a short-term trend. but it is going to be a long-term shift. So now when we bring this to a consumer perspective, So we asked the consumer in a recent survey how important healthy aging is to them. Most consumers say It is very or extremely important. And what is interesting to note here is that when we break this respondents into generation. we see that millennials are actually the most engaged. even slightly higher than older groups. and even Gen C is already thinking about this. So healthy aging is no longer something people think about later. but it is something they are actively planning. for much earlier in life. So We also ask consumers what actions they are taking towards this. Around 21% say they are already purchasing food and beverage. on a monthly basis to support healthy aging. So this tells us two things. So first Healthy aging is becoming a mainstream priority. and consumers are taking action towards it. So this is not just restricted to intention alone. So, to understand what consumers are concerned about majorly on the physical aspects. So we see that When we compare the respondents between Global and the APAC, So weight continues to be a key concern globally. but the APAC gives a slightly different picture. So sleep actually comes out higher. with around 56% of APAC consumers concerned. compared to 46% globally. And we also see a stronger concern in APAC for physical aspects like skin health. eye health and immunity for example immunity concern is around 36 percent in APAC compared to just 20 percent globally. So this shows a clear shift, meaning the physical health in apes. Back is no longer just about weight management but it is also becoming much more holistic, covering areas like sleep. appearance and prevention. And alongside the broader view of physical health, mental well-being is also becoming equally important which We will look at it next. To understand the mental well-being in more detail, So we asked the consumer in a recent survey, so what aspects of mental health are the most concerned about. So, what we see here is again a comparison between global and the APAC respondents. So globally, concerns are still... centered around stress and anxiety. but in APAC, we see a different pattern. So stress and anxiety remains important to APAC. but we see relatively higher concern for areas like regulation focus for example concern around emotional regulation as you see here is around 36% in APAC. compared to just 20% in global. We also see higher concern in APAC for clear structured thinking and quiet thinking and adapt ...ability. So next, to understand how consumers are acting on healthy aging. So we ask consumers what steps are they taking to age healthy? So what we first see is that across all generations, Three core approaches stand out. So which is exercise, diet and supplements. So, this reinforces that healthy aging is not just driven by one solution. but by combination of lifestyle as well as the nutritional choices. When we look deeper, we start to see differences among generations. For example, on the left you see responses from younger consumers, particularly Gen C and millennials. So they say there is a stronger focus on improving sleeping patterns and also in maintaining a balanced and also nutritional rich diet. So this reflects the focus on daily well-being and also energy. and overall lifestyle balance. On the other hand, if you look at the older consumers such as Gen X, and boomers, we see they are more focused on taking supplements prescribed medicines and also maintaining social connections. So this is more of a preventive and management focused approach to health. So Overall, though the core pillars like exercise, diet and supplementation supplements remain the same but the way consumer approach health age differently and significantly by life stages of the age. So this highlights the importance of developing solutions. tailored to different age group and their specific needs. Let us now take a closer look at how this plays out in the physical health. To understand weight as a health concern, So we ask consumers which aspects of their health have been there concern about as we have mentioned earlier weight remains the leading physical health concern among both global as well as the impact consumers. So... When we look at the market, we are seeing around 31%. year-over-year growth in product launches. tracked with weight management claims in APAC. So there is a clear alignment between consumer need. as well as the market launches. So if we look at example highlighted here. So it combines ingredients like apple cider vinegar, and herbs, green tea. and amino acids. So what is interesting here is how the product is positioned. So it is not just positioned for weight loss it is positioned around other benefit areas like metabolism appetite control, energy. and even digestive wellness. So overall what we see is there is a clear shift from traditional weight loss focus to more holistic weight management solutions. So Beyond weight, there are other physical areas. where we stay stronger and also different priorities in the APAC market. Again, to understand how healthy aging priorities differ across the age group, across generations. So we ask consumers which aspects of healthy aging are most important to them. So we are highlighting the physical aspect responses. from the survey. So what we see is the priorities varies quite clearly by different age group. So for younger consumers, particularly Gen C and millennials, So there is a stronger focus on preventing disease and also improving the beauty and appearance. On the other hand, for older consumers, the focus shifts more towards maintaining mobility. like bone health and joint health and also staying physically active. So this reflects a different need. So overall, healthy aging is important across all generations. but the way it is defined or the way it is expected. by different age groups are entirely different. So this highlights an opportunity for brands or the products. to tailor solution based on lifestyle. and also life stages rather than taking one size fits all solution. So, in another survey, we asked consumers which aspects of healthy aging they're most concerned about and which benefit they're actively looking to improve. So what we see is that the younger consumers, particularly Gen C and millennials, say appearance and beauty is the key part of the helps the aging to them. So in fact, around 33% on average are over indexing. this topic. on improving their physical appearance. So for this set of group, healthy aging is not just about the long-term health but it is also about how they look and feel today. So if we look at the example, it combines grill oil. with vitamin D and it is positioned for both heart health as well as skin support. And when we look at the market trend as well, so we are seeing around 28% year-over-year growth in food and beverage and also so supplement products launches with a skin health claim tracked in the apac region So This shows a clear shift what we observe is duty is becoming an important entry point into healthy aging especially for younger consumers. So, the next aspect is about the mobility. So bone and joint health is one of the The major concern especially for older consumers like Gen X and boomers. So in fact around 29% of the consumers say they are focused on improving bone and joint health. So this reflects a shift in focus from appearance to functionality and independence especially on the older consumers. So when we also look at what's happening in the launches. both in food and beverage as well as supplement. We see around 21% year-over-year growth. in bone and joint health related claims. So the example highlighted here from India. So it combines ingredients like magnesium. calcium, vitamins and is positioned around strength, energy and bone density. So this highlights how healthy aging evolves with lifestyle. over the life stages. And alongside prevention, this is also becoming an important focus. especially for the older consumers. So, immunity is still. a trending topic So when we ask the consumer, we observe that around 36% are interested in improving their immunity. when we also look at what's happening in the market so we are seeing a strong double digit growth of 17%. year-over-year growth in products tracked with immune health claims. So if we look at example highlighted here, so it combines grill oil. with vitamins and is positioned to support health. benefits like heart brain, joints and immunity. So again if you see the product here immunity is not positioned as a standalone health benefit. It is a part of a broader or a multifunctional health solution. So this is what we are reinforcing again and again. So consumers are increasingly looking for solution. that supports overall well-being not just a standalone health benefits as we have seen in the past decade. Now let us move to the next topic which is active mind. So when we look at mental well-being, We also ask the consumer what aspects of the mental well-being are important for them. So... we see there are clear splits among the . duration as we see in the physical aspects. So it includes maintaining energy level, having positive mindset. and also keeping the mind active. So when we break this down further, so we see a clear differences among the age groups are like millennials. Boomers and Gen Z. So when we look at the younger consumers especially, and how they responded to mental well-being. around 68% of Gen Z. and also 62% of millennials say. they are very highly concerned about the mental health. So in comparison to older consumers, they are concerned less concerned overall the older consumers when it comes to mental well-being. So this indicates a mental health is becoming a daily or a priority for younger consumers compared to the older. generations. So, building on what we just discussed around mental well-being. We are now seeing this getting translated into product innovation. across food, beverage and as well as the supplements. So we see that it is no longer a niche segment. But it is getting into mainstream. So what brands currently are doing is they are not just targeting the traditional mental well-being benefit like stress or anxiety. but now they are targeting more towards how consumers want to feel. So if we look at the example on the left from Singapore. So it is built around different mood states. for example, uplifting, energizing. calm and fulfilling. So instead of saying Reduce stress or reduce anxiety. So this product gives consumer a choice. based on how they want to feel or the outcome they want. So there is a shift seen here from a problem solution like anxiety or stress. to mood-based personalization. And the example on the right. is clearly shown here. combines ingredients or active components like nootropics vitamins and superfoods and again it is positioned around mental clarity. focus and performance. So across both examples So we are seeing a trend from managing stress or anxiety. to more of optimizing based on the mood as well as the mental performance. Thanks. So with respect to mental health, energy is one of the fastest growing needs. So we are seeing around 43% year-over-year growth in both. food and beverage as well as the supplement launches tracked with energy claim in APAC region. This is one of the highest growth areas. in both physical as well as the mental health. So the product highlighted below is basically combines omega-3 with EPA and also DHE. energy so this is positioned to reduce tiredness and also support sustained energy for the whole day. The energy is increasingly linked with overall health and not just stimulation. So now we look at the older consumer, especially Gen X and and boomers brain health and memory really the center or the core. of how they want to define an active mind. So memory is actually the top mental health aspect they want to improve. So from a market standpoint, we are also seeing a 9% growth. in products that are tracked with a memory-related claim. So it is growing steadily. So if we look at example from India at first class it looks like a typical cognitive support supplement but it's also supporting mood balance, overall emotional well-being. So, this is the last topic that we will cover today. So, longevity. So we are seeing more products combining ingredients like probiotics, adaptogens, pathogens vitamins all are positioned around energy, resilience and also the long-term health. So when we look at the data, we see that by 2050, one in four people in APAC will over the age of 60. So, this represents a major structural change in demographics. and we observe that this will also demand that drive the demand for long-term health solutions. So in our recent survey, we asked consumers how important longevity is to them. we observed that around 60% say it is very or extremely important. So this shows that consumers are not just focused on living longer but also about how they want to live in a healthy and have more energy and more importantly the quality of the life. So, to summarize what we have seen today. longevity is emerging as the key goal for consumers. So it is no longer just about living longer as I have mentioned. It is about staying healthy, staying active and also mentally sharp. Health is also becoming much more holistic. combining both physical as well as mental well-being. So they are not consumers are not just interested in a standalone health benefit. but they are more interested towards having products that will help them with multi functional or more holistic well-being. So, overall this creates a strong opportunities for solution. that can support both physical as well as mental. benefit across different life stages. So with this, I'll conclude my part of the session. and thank you very much for your time i look forward to the discussion and as well as the Q&A towards the end. So now I will hand over. to Aker BioMarine team who will bring this all life to through their ingredient solution as well as the science. Thank you. Thank you so much for your presentation, Abinaya. Definitely some really useful trend intelligence. to support in any product positioning. I can see quite a few questions have come through during your session as well. As Abinaya mentioned, it's now time to go into the Aker Marine ingredient portfolio. So with that, I would like to hand over to my colleague Anca. Our global brand director for Superba. The Krill,. Hello everybody and thanks for the introduction. I'm very excited to introduce Superba and share why we see this ingredient as Highly relevant in the new active wellness space. What we're seeing in the market today is that categories like sports nutrition, Healthy aging, weight management, overall well-being and cognition. are increasingly converging. Consumers are no longer looking for isolated benefits. They want solutions that help them stay active, strong, sharp and resilient. over time. So what makes Superba Quilt truly unique is that it is a natural multi- Nutrient Powerhouse. Rather than delivering just one isolated nutrient, it naturally provides several beneficial nutrients together in one ingredient. which gives it a broad relevance across active wellness needs. So Superba naturally contains several essential nutrients all in one. It naturally contains omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. choline, astaxanthin and phospholipids,. And what makes this especially interesting? is that these are all nutrients with relevance at the cellular level. They are closely connected to the structure and functioning of cell membranes. which is why Krill, can support various health areas across the whole body. like the heart muscle, the inflammation status, metabolism, recovery and overall active well-being. One of the defining features of Krill, oil is that the key nutrients like omega-3s and choline are naturally delivered in a phospholipids, form. a form that supports efficient absorption transport and incorporation into cell. membranes. And because phospholipids, are highly compatible with the body's own cell membranes, They help deliver the key nutrients at the cellular level. where the body can actually use them and where the nutrients can benefit organs. and whole body systems. And this is why we describe Superba as supporting foundational health and well-being at the core. Because it works at the cellular level, it can support multiple organ systems. and need states from one science-backed ingredient. And importantly, this is backed by science. There are thousands of scientific papers exploring the benefits of each of the individual nutrients found in Krill, oil like omega-3s, choline, phospholipids,. etc. etc. And in addition, we have a great portfolio of Krill, oil-specific science. exploring how these nutrients work synergistically together. Superba is supported by more than 50 human clinical trials. covering a broad range of benefits. like well-being, heart, inflammation status, joints. muscle mass and strength skin hydration etc etc. In addition to the broad portfolio of science that we have, we also have an extensive patent portfolio covering in range inventions related to extraction technology, creel oil processing technology, products etc. Today, I'll focus on two especially relevant opportunity areas. healthy weight management with muscle preservation and sports performance and recovery. So this slide summarizes why Superba is relevant in the active wellness space Phospholipids, support uptake and delivery of the nutrients. Omega-3s are relevant for muscle function, inflammation balance and recovery. Choline plays an important role in muscle contraction and neuromuscular function. And astaxanthin adds antioxidant support. And in addition it gives color to the oil and it also helps with preserving the oil from oxidation. So as you can see, these naturally combined nutrients support several need states. and complementary pathways. So for the rest of the presentation today I would like to start with healthy weight management because this is one of the most relevant opportunities in the Active Wellness Space today. When you want to lose weight, the goal should not only be to be smaller or have a smaller or thinner body. but a healthier body overall with a healthier body composition. And to achieve that, preserving muscle strength and metabolic health is key. So, in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group, ...clinical trial that was published last year in the Journal of Obesity. We had 41 healthy overweight or obese adults. that were given a Superba boost versus placebo daily for eight weeks. The scientists wanted to assess the effects of Krill oil on body composition and muscle function during those eight weeks of alternate day fasting. So first let's take a look at body composition. So this is really the key takeaway. When you want to lose weight, you want to lose fat. not muscle. And as you see here in this graph, both groups lost about The same amount of total weight. So both groups, the placebo group and the Superba group, lost about 4.5 kilos But the composition of that weight loss was very different. In the Superba group, 96% of the weight loss came from fat. and only 4% came from muscle. In the placebo group, a much larger share came from muscle. and less came from fat. So second, the researchers wanted to assess muscle functioning after the supplementation period. And this is where the story becomes even more compelling. So Superba Krill, did not just help shift weight loss toward fat, Rather than muscle, it also helped protect muscle function and performance during weight loss So the Krill, oil group largely maintained their hand grip strength. while the placebo group declined. And in the chair rising test, the Krill, group showed a greater improvement. And this is important because healthy weight management should not only reduce body weight, as I said, but help preserve strength, mobility and function. at the same time. So preserve health while you lose weight. So in general, losing weight should be beneficial for your whole body and for that to happen. Muscle must be maintained. Thirdly, the researchers wanted to assess metabolic health and inflammation. levels So compared with placebo, the Krill, oil group showed greater improvements in systolic blood pressure and also showed lower inflammatory markers And so this is an important biological proof point. So Krill oil supplementation significantly increased the omega-3 index. to the desired level over 12 weeks. So this shows that Superba Quill is not only conceptually attractive, it also measurably improves nutrient status in the body So when we bring this together, we see Superba as a valuable companion in health. the weight management solutions It provides clinically supported nutrition that can help preserve lean muscle while supporting healthier body composition. In other words, it helps make weight management outcomes healthier more functional and potentially more sustainable over time. If you would like to learn more or deep dive even further you can download the white paper that you will find in the show. notes So the same strengths that make Superba Krill, relevant in body composition. so support for muscle recovery, resilience and nutrient uptake. are also highly relevant in sports nutrition. and active performance. And so this slide gives a broad overview of the evidence in sports and active sports. Nutrition. Across studies, we see support for nutrient uptake, for recovery, for muscle health and joint health. So again, superb acrylic is not limited to one narrow benefit. It supports a broader active wellness story, which is especially valuable in today's market. Superba is clinically proven in areas that matters to athlete. It increases the omega-3 and choline levels, addressing those critical nutrient gaps. We know from science from International Society of Sports Nutrition that Athletes are often short on omega-3s as they require higher levels Superba also improves immune function and reduces inflammation supporting better recovery. And studies show it enhances muscle strength and mass and supports joint health. by reducing pain and improving flexibility. So altogether, it's a clinically backed natural solution for key... aspects of sports performance. So now let's look at the most recent studies that we have. The science for muscle health. and joint pain and joint function a little closer. So this here is one of the strongest proof points we have for muscle health. In a six month randomized control trial in 94 healthy elderly adults. Krill, supplementation in increased knee extension strength It increased grip strength and it increased muscle thickness. All versus placebo. And what is especially interesting is that this bridges sports nutrition and healthy aging. It shows that Superba is relevant not only for athletes but also for adults who want to stay strong, mobile and active. over time. And then joint health is another important part of the active wellness story. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, Published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 22. We had 235 healthy volunteers with moderate knee osteoarthritis. That was supplemented with Superba Boost verses Placebo for 6. months And then in the graph here you see that the Krill oil group showed a greater reduction in knee pain. versus placebo. And this matters because joint discomfort can be a real barrier to staying at home. active. So this adds another valuable dimension to the Superba Quill story. Supporting comfort, mobility and long term. activity And in addition to joint pain, the study also found significant improvements in joint function. and flexibility after supplementation. So this is one example of how the science can be brought to life in the real world. Through our collaboration with the Norwegian Board Association and the Norwegian Board Athletes we connect Superba to real demands around performance, recovery, strength and joint. support. It helps show how the ingredient fits naturally into the broader active wellness conversation. So to conclude, superb acrylic powers the new active wellness space. What we have shown today is that the Krill, is more than the traditional omega-3 ingredient. It is a science-backed, multi-nutrient solution with relevance across healthier body composition, muscle preservation, recovery and performance. And that gives brands an opportunity to meet a growing demand for more complete active wellness solutions. Helping people not only move but stay strong and resilient over time. And finally, beyond science and performance. Sustainability is also central to the Superba story. Superba Krill, is sourced from a responsibly managed Antarctic Krill, fishery. with very low catch levels and supported by strong traceability and transparency throughout the whole value chain. Combined with recognition from leading sustainability organizations, This gives brands a compelling combination of efficacy, responsible sourcing, and trust. So let me conclude my part by showing you a short example of how We focus on traceability. When it comes to responsible sourcing, Transparency and traceability is key. to be able to track the product all the way from harvesting Antarctica to the consumers in their homes. We offer technology that allows a consumer to track its product all the way back to the coordinates of where the Krill in their box was caught. That gives trust. It gives certified sustainability. and it gives quality for the product for the consumers. So thank you so much for your time. Hope this session has been. valuable and feel free to reach out to us if you have questions Thank you. Great to hear. Thank you, Ankur. I really loved seeing more about the recent studies. showing how Krill oil really is backed by science. Now the hour is passing quickly, so let's jump to Nina, our global marketing. manager for Revervia,. Over to you, Nina. Thank you all for joining. Today we're here to talk about something that connects how we move Think and Age. Active body, active mind. Because long-term health is not just about exercise or diet. It's about giving our body the right building blocks. at every stage of life. And one of the most essential building blocks are omega-3s, and especially THJ But let's start simple. There are two main types of omega-3s. short chain fatty acids, ALA from plant sources like flaxseed and walnuts, This needs conversion in our body to be useful. And then you have long chain fatty acids like EPA and DHA from marine sources like fish. Krill, EPA and DHA fortified foods. and algae, which is one of few vegan options. Long chain fat acids are actually how our body needs to get omega-3s to utilize them. And ALA is everywhere in our diets, but our body converts very small amounts ...to EPA and even less to DHA. So direct sources are key. And that brings us to the next part. So traditionally we rely on fish and marine oil, for omega-3s. but we have a growing population and there is a need to diversify sources. to keep up with this increased demand. And this is where microalgae becomes relevant. So algae are aquatic organisms that range from large seaweed to microscopic cells. and we categorize them into two main groups. Macroalgae are large plant-like growth like kelp or nori. And then you have microalgae, tiny single cell organism, only visible with the microscope. And microalgaes are actually the original source of DHA in the food chain. And today they are becoming increasingly relevant. in nutrition and for supplements. But how is it done? With microalgae, we can produce DHA in a highly controlled way. First, we start with the single cell. We grow the biomass through fermentation. and then extract the lipids and refine the oil. The result is a clean, consistent and scalable source of omega-3s. and an oil ready for encapsulation or other formats. But why microalgaes? There are six key reasons. Get high natural DHA concentration. that puts no pressure on marine ecosystems. It's a scalable and sustainable production. Pure by design, no pollutants and no allergens. It's non-GMO and finally it's a vegan source of long chain omega-3s. So overall, microalgae can provide a predictable and renewable supply helping diversify Omega 3 sources for the future. Now, let's look at the health benefits of DHA and why supplementation could be essential. So despite the importance, getting enough omega-3s remains a global challenge. Most people fall short of optimal levels, which is 8% or above. on the omega-3 index. Looking at the map to the right, only sparsely populated areas hit those targets. like Greenland, Alaska and Norway. And why does that matter? So omega-3 index of 8% or above is linked to longer life expectancy. lower heart disease risk. and reduced risk of overall mortality. and modern diets work against us. We do not get enough omega-3s from diets alone and particularly DHA. You've likely heard about the omega 6 vs omega 3 balance. and the healthy balance would be four to one. but as we consume too much omega-6 that balance would typically be 20 to 1 or above, meaning we do not get enough omega-3s. And again, ALA simply does not convert efficiently into long-chain omega-3s. only 5% to EPA and 0.5% to the US. present to DHA, which is important as DHA plays a critical role throughout life. Research has shown that DHA benefits across all lifestyles. stages during pregnancy to support fetal brain and eye development In children it aids brain and visual function. In adults and elders, it supports cardiovascular and heart health. and low DHA levels have been linked to cognitive decline. Dementia and AIDS-related macular degeneration or AMD. and eye disease that can blur your vision. It happens when their aging causes damage. to the macula, which is the part of the eye that controls sharp. straight ahead vision. So DHA isn't just about or just important. It's core across the entire lifespan. And it's important to emphasize that DHA from algae is just as efficiently absorbed as any other Marine Source, DHA. A recent study from 2033 from Complutens University of Madrid Focus on the efficacy of algae DHA. It was a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled crossover trial. that looked at DHA oil from microalgae. 116 healthy adults, including omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans took 250 milligrams of algae dha oil and placebo each for five weeks. Separated by a five-week washout. primarily looking at changes in the serum fatty acid profile. So, the results showed a significant increase in DHA levels across all groups the strongest effect in vegetarians and vegans and as you can see on the chart on the right. So the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio in approved in all groups after supplementation. though it remained higher in vegetarians and vegans than in omnivores. Interestingly enough, it also showed that women had higher baseline serum DHA. It's a done man. All clearly showing that algae-based DHA is effective and bioavailable regardless of diet. So. What does this mean in practice? It means algae oil can be a solution to a global nutritional need. And in the handout, you can explore further how Viverbia delivers high strength DHA from microalgae. in a clean, sustainable vegan format. supporting brain health, vision, and lifelong wellness. Thank you. Thanks Nina, great to see you and thanks for such a strong introduction to Revervia,. To our next product, I know a lot of people who have joined today are really excited to see more about our new product. new brain health ingredient, Lysoveta,. So with that, I would now like to introduce Viola, our global brand director for Lysa Better. Thank you for joining this webinar. Brain health is one of the fastest growing areas in nutrition and preventive health. Today I will show how a key scientific discovery has enabled a new ingredient solution for targeting brain nutrition, Lysoveta. Aging happens to everyone. And the brain is no exception. What is important is that brain aging doesn't suddenly start in old age. It actually begins much earlier, already in our 20s and 30s. Over time, normal metabolism produces molecules that create oxidative stress. rest, this gradually damages brain cells and contributes to cognitive decline. The body has several natural defensive systems to protect the brain. These include, for instance, the blood-brain barrier, the repair systems and blame plasticity. Together, they help reduce damage and support brain function over time. One key process is the repair of cell membranes. This depends on specific nutrients, especially lipids, like DHA, essential building blocks from brain cells and EPA that is involved in anti-inflammatory responses. For decades, we have known that these nutrients are important for brain health, However, it was not clear how these nutrients actually reach the brain as the blood-brain barrier is very selective. In 2014 scientists discovered transporter called MFSD2A located at the blood-brain barrier. This was the major scientific breakthrough published in Nature. The transporter was shown to facilitate the transport of certain long-chain fatty acids such as EPA and DHA across the blood-brain barrier. when they are carried in the form of lysophosphatidylcholine,, also named LPC. MFS-DQA represents one of several biological mechanisms that regulate how nutrients are from the bloodstream into the brain. The receptor is shown to transport LPC across the blood-brain barrier when bound to long chain fatty acids. This supplies essential nutrients to the brain such as EPA, DHA and choline. It is naturally used by the body and typically produced through the intake of fatty acids, which are then processed in the liver and converted into to LPC bound form. Its importance is lighted by the fact that mutations in the MFS DQA transporter lead to severe brain development divorce. disorders including microcephaly and neuron development reductions. These effects are illustrated in the images on the right side. where mice lacking an active transporter shows smaller brain size and neuronal growth. Compared to controls on the left side where the receptor is present. Importantly, The efficiency of this transport pathway declines with aging, meaning that Fewer nutrients naturally reach the brain over time. At the same time, the brain health market is growing very fast. It is already worth more than 12 billion dollars and is expected to grow strongly in the coming This growth is driven by demographic aging. Increasing interest in preventive health and growing demand for cognitive performance and mental resilience. Consumers today are also becoming more sophisticated and looking for solutions that are effective, science-based and support precision nutrition. As a result brain health solutions today need to address Not only cognitive performance and moods, but also neuroprotection and long-term brain resilience. Based on the scientific discovery and market potential after biomarine developed by Lysoveta,. Lysoveta, is a unique ingredient that delivers nutrients in LPC form to the brain. It leverages the MFSD2A transporter at the blood-brain barrier. Making it an highly innovative and science-based solution. Building on this scientific discovery, Acker Biomarin has developed a proprietary process to produce Lysol VETA at scale with 20 years of experience in supplying high quality products. quality ingredients. As a result, Lysoveta, can efficiently deliver key nutrients like EPA, DHA and choline. Directly into the brain, being already in the active form able to cross the blood-brain barrier. here, supporting brain health through different pathways. Preclinical studies show that it can help reduce oxidative stress in the brain and support support neuron protection, two key factors in maintaining brain health over time. Thanks to its composition, Lysoveta, provides multiple benefits in the brain. DHA supports the integrity, repair and regeneration of brain cells. EPA plays a role in mood pathways and help regulate inflammation. Collin supports neurotransmission and cognitive signaling. Together, these effects help support overall brain function From cognitive performance to long-term brain health. Lysoveta, is supported by more than a decade of scientific research In collaboration with leading research institutions 12 preclinical studies have already been completed. with three clinical trials currently ongoing in humans. The technology is protected by more than 50 patents. and trademark and the ingredients will say the world for most innovative ingredient. back in 2025. The product is already available in the US and Australia. while the European regulatory approval is ongoing. In conclusion, Lysoveta, combines strong science with a growing market need. By delivering nutrients in the form the brain naturally uses, it offers A new approach to support brain health. Thank you for your attention. I will now hand over to the team. Thanks so much Viola and a very exciting product. It's now my favorite time of the webinar where we want to hear from all of you. So please. If you haven't already, drop your questions in. I would now like to welcome back Abhinaya. and welcome Ross Norris. ...to the stage. Now, we have a few questions... Let me begin with... A question from Natanichar, can Krill, oil be used to supplement DHA in children? Ross, I think I might hand that one to you, please. Thanks Hannah and thanks to all our speakers. The short answer is yes. The DHA and Krill, can be used to treat the DHA and Krill,. used to provide DHA supplementation for children. and the phospholipids, backbone will result in improved absorption versus a triglycerides form of DHA so yes it's safe and yes one of the most effective forms. Perfect, thank you Russ. We have another question. This one, Abinaya, I might have you answer, please. This one is from Christian. Christian has asked... I would like to ask for the immunity market survey. is vitamin C included in it? Thanks. hmm maybe I can check about the survey in detail later but in general vitamin c is obviously included in But I will check and share it with Christian in detail. Thank you, Abinaya. And for any questions which we don't get time for, our team will reach out and answer those. Personally as well. Next question we have from... From Simin Islam, what is your upcoming molecule? Ross. I presume you're talking about Lysoveta, which Viola... introduced. That is a Krill, derived product. that is standardized to a much higher content of lysophosphatidylcholine,. This enables the delivery of the omega-3 both... DPA and DHA across the blood-brain barrier and across the The blood brain barrier, the blood eye barrier as well. So it gives targeted delivery of omega-3 to both those tissue areas. Perfect answer, thank you Ross. And the next one I quite like. This question is from Joey. compared to fish oil what's the strength? of Krill oil. Ross. I guess I'd better take that thank you great question because of the phospholipids, backbone, Krill oil is absorbed much more effectively than triglycerides, forms. The science varies depending on which paper you read, but as a general... rule you only need to take about half as much Krill oil to get to get delivery of the same amount or more. omega-3 directly into the cell membranes. And that's where it has its greatest effect. So other omega-3s take a much longer route through the body. are often consumed for energy by the muscles. might be stored as fat in cells. Krill oil has got a much more efficient delivery. right through to the cell membrane, which is what we call the phospholipid advantage. Perfect. And we didn't plant that question. Now, another really good one is from Dr. Imara Khan. And after hearing all the amazing speakers, oh thank you that's very kind. One question I have in mind is how to choose which one is the best omega. Would you like me to address it? Yes, please. Again, a great question. I think that... For many brands, the challenge is is delivering innovation because that's what the consumers want. And if you look at some of the ingredients or some of the nutritional ingredients such as omega-3. It's one of those baseline ingredients that's got a very strong base of science to it. it's very well known, but it often doesn't fulfill that need for innovation. So ACCA's portfolio allow you to deliver that need. and depending on the stage and the product form you want to choose. you can pick an ingredient. For instance, you know, early life where DHA is often more important. and tablets and capsules are often difficult for kids or children to Take a Revervia, product with Revervia, in it as a drop or a drink. is the perfect product for that lifestyle. But for teenagers, you know, A combination of Krill, and with some Revervia,. and maybe even Lysoveta, and concentration. and adults pure Krill, or one of the Superba products as a capsule gives you strong support for most of your activities. And finally, In older age you can have weighted towards Lysoveta, where you get improved memory capabilities but it really is the portfolio allows you to really customize a solution deliver that innovation, but at the same time show a proven efficacy to your consumers. Thank you very much Ross. And we are right on the hour. So that is all we have time for today. Thank you to all of our amazing speakers. Thank you. To Ross and Abainafor all of your time and answering these questions as well. So as I said, this is all we have time for. Once again, thank you for joining.
